Financial Controller
Hines Netherlands (HNL) is part of Hines Europe which currently has approximately € 22.8 billion of investments under management. Established in 2017, HNL has since made eight investments totalling approximately € 800m and currently active in the logistics, office and residential real estate sectors. HNL is actively looking to add to its portfolio and is constantly exploring development and investment opportunities to improve existing investments. It is Hines’ strategic intention to maintain a permanent presence in the Netherlands as part of the European platform through which it invests.
HNL is led by Andy Smith in his capacity as Sr. Managing Director – Head of Hines Netherlands and is organised through three main departments, namely those responsible for Asset Management, Development and Finance. The property management organisation fits within the wider asset management department.

Position
The Controller will be responsible for all financial and operational functions and tasks for different Hines NL Assets (investments), including one of our fresh parks (ABC Westland). The responsibilities include “financial controlling and accounting (incl. oversight of outsourced functions), loan compliance, reporting to funds and investors (and other stakeholders), and occasionally new development/investment acquisition support.
As a Controller, the individual will be part of the Hines Netherlands team in of a growing company of about 35 persons and he or she will be a key contributor to the sustainable growth of Hines in the Netherlands. Hines NL currently manages several investments, and the continued growth has brought about the need for this hire.
Main responsibilities include:
Financial Controlling, Accounting and Reporting:
All required financial controlling and reporting, and to the extent necessary, accounting (typically outsourced);
Acts as a business partner and financial advisor to the Hines NL, asset and property management teams with a focus on budget preparation and monitoring;
Working closely with the local team managing the asset together with external consultants and internal specialists;
Working closely with third party service providers (including local accountants, tax advisors and auditors) and co-ordinate their work with the Fund Controllers/Accountants;
Coordinating the debt facilities with appropriate internal and external support overseeing debt compliance ensuring deadlines are met on time and assisting with property (re)-financings;
Treasury management to ensure sufficient working capital, timely debt payments and distributions as well as cash-flow reporting and forecasting;
Preparing timely and accurate financial and management reports of institutional quality;
Reviewing and coding expenditures and related payment runs and controlling authorizations;
Monitoring the service cost reconciliations;
Credit management;
Where necessary, interfacing with (internal or external) auditors and supporting the audit process.
Requirements
Experienced accountant with Dutch GAAP experience, ideally supplemented with, IFRS and/orUS GAAP exposure;
Working experience in preparing financial reports (reporting packages and financial statements);
Strong analytical and communication skills;
High degree of attention to detail and ease with numbers;
Ability to autonomously prepare and present high-quality reports and presentations in an articulate manner to senior management;
Minimum of 5 years of experience in relevant role;
Good command of MS Office, with a focus on MS Excel;
Previous experience with JDEdwards and or Yardi is a strong advantage, but not a requirement;
Occasional travel within the Netherlands is expected, and from time to time outside of the Netherlands in order to coordinate with colleagues.
Qualifications
Dutch local and fluent in both Dutch and English (written and spoken);
Minimum HBO (university of applied sciences) degree in finance/economics or real estate
